The solar stills were initially designed by the M.Sc. student from the University of Life Sciences, Oslo, Norway ; Cecilie Kolstad. The field work were located at NCA offices in Kabul. A working committee was established to guide the development work and the testing.

On this page photos of the different units are shown with some short comments about type and preliminary results.



First Set of Prototype of Solar Stills

The different types of stills produced and tested are shown above and located on the roof of the NCA offices for testing to assess water production.

Many refinements followed later.

Finding the carpenter shop interested in assisting in constructing the unit also took some time.
