**HYDROGEOLOGY CONCEPT AND APPROACH - DAVID BANKS**
	David Banks presented concept of hydrogeological survey methods, work planned for Faryab. He mentioned that thanks to DACAAR, so has the field sampling surveys now picked up speed and work was actually AHEAD of schedule. Dave also proposed issues for the workshop to discuss including location and considerations for further exploratory drilling, and whether it was advisable to procure expensive geophysical logging equipment under this

**INTRODUCING GIS DEVELOPMENT NAQIBULLAH ABRAR**
	Eng N. Abrar Introduced the GIS activities. We have had some delays but with Zarinkhail working full time on GIS-MIS in RuWatSIP and 50% of the project as from mid December 2012, this important component is picking up speed.

**GIS STATUS AND WAY FORWARD**
	Prof. Zarinkhail outlined status and work ahead for GIS and MIS activities

**UNICEF FOCUS IN AFGHANISTAN IN THE WATER SECTOR**
	Hydrogeologist Adane Bekele outlined UNICEF strategies for data collection, data base development and GIS supporting activities under RuWatSIP. UBICEF focus on mapping cover of safe water supply and sanitation, water supply functionality, and water quality for rural population

**OVERVIEW OF CAPACITY BUILDING FOR THE PROJECT** - DR. STOVELAND
	Stoveland outlined what the Terms of Reference stated, and what the project focus was. It is always important to have a good understanding in order to balance project expectations with what the project can deliver.

**TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING- PROF. EQRAR**
	Prof. Eqrar presented the work on training needs assessment, development of a course plan and list of courses proposed. Scope of capacity building with presentation of key resources to provide support for the implementation of the project.

**TRAINING CALENDAR - ASBJORN Neurodendron** calendar presentation
	A. Nordbo presented the drafted training calendar. This needs to be discussed further but is the calender show the magnitude of courses and planned capacity building activities to start quite SOON.

**PLANNING PORCESS FOR WORK ON 3 TOWNS IN FARYAB - RR. STOVELAND**
	Dr. Stoveland introduced the 4th technical session covering planning for Water supply and sanitation activities in Faryab with presentation of the way forward and agenda for discussion by the meeting.
